As oral and maxillofacial surgeons we treat diseases, deformities and injuries to the mouth, face and jaws. We are trained and licensed to safely administer a variety of anesthetics for your comfort including general anesthesia. We specialize in the removal of teeth (especially wisdom teeth), dental implant surgery, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems. When necessary, we also surgically prepare jaws for dentures, biopsy abnormal tissues and perform surgery for jaw cysts and jaw tumors. Additional information about these procedures is available. (Surgical Procedures)
Your initial appointment will consist of an examination and consultation. We appreciate and require your input regarding the nature, severity, extent, duration, etc. of your problem. Also, please alert us if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery. Most importantly, your doctor will thoroughly discuss your diagnosis, treatment options, the planned surgical procedure and the appropriate anesthetic so you will know exactly what to expect the day of your surgery. This will allow you to make an informed decision/consent about your planned surgery. As is common practice with every medical procedure you will be required to sign a surgical consent form before your surgery.
In some cases, particularly simple procedures or emergencies, surgery can or must be performed on your initial visit. These cases are the exception however and usually a complex medical history or treatment plan will require a second appointment to provide treatment. Appointments can usually be scheduled promptly.
Since our practice frequently treats hospital emergency room and outpatient emergencies we do experience scheduling priorities. Every effort is made to keep the schedule on time however there are instances when the best planning cannot control your waiting room time. Occasionally major hospital trauma cases necessitate cancellation of scheduled appointments. Please try to understand and bear with us. If this occurs, you will be notified and we will be happy to reschedule you at a time convenient to you.
