Dexter Mattox, DMD, MD
Meet Dr. Mattox
Dr. Mattox is a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon, who has a deep passion for using technology to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Mattox comes from a long line of doctors, with both of his grandfathers and his father being physicians. He is a native of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, where he gained valuable research experience in genetics.
After earning his undergraduate degree, Dr. Mattox attended the Dental College of Georgia, where he was selected as the MCG Foundation Scholar for the Class of 2016. He then went on to complete a dual-degree residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he received his Medical Doctorate and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. During this time, he also completed a one-year internship in General Surgery, gaining valuable experience in a range of specialties, including intensive care, anesthesiology, trauma surgery, pediatric surgery, ENT, cosmetic surgery, and plastic surgery.
Dr. Mattox is deeply committed to using technology to improve patient outcomes, with a particular interest in surgical treatment planning using 3D modeling for advanced dental implant surgeries. He is skilled in software development and technology implementation, which he uses to streamline the practice of oral surgery.
Dr. Mattox is married to his high school sweetheart, Riley, and they have two beautiful daughters named Delaney and Helen. Outside of family, Dr. Mattox enjoys playing pickleball and cooking.
Dr. Mattox is deeply grateful to his father for pushing him to achieve and instilling a patient-first approach to healthcare. He also credits his mother for her tremendous compassion, support, and love, which fostered his creativity while challenging him to relentlessly pursue knowledge.
