Meet Dr. Pesto

Alfred E. Pesto, DMD, FACSDr. Pesto, Board Certified in the Specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, has surgical and anesthesia training in pediatric and adult Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with clinical experience in the following areas: Dentoalveolar Surgery, including surgical management of impacted teeth, dental implants, and bone grafting; Facial Trauma; Head and Neck Odontogenic Infections; Pathology; and, the Anesthesia Management of patients ranging from local anesthesia to general anesthesia.  Dr. Pesto, with active staff privileges, participates in Emergency Department and Trauma Call at Memorial University Medical Center, a Tertiary Care Teaching and Research Hospital, Level I Trauma Center and Children’s Hospital.  Also, Dr Pesto has staff privileges at St. Joseph’s and Candler Hospitals.  Dr. Pesto completed the University of Louisville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program with the honor of serving on the Resident House Staff Council. Dr Pesto graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Degree from the Medical College of Georgia with the honor of membership in the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.  Dr. Pesto received a commissioned appointment as a Kentucky Colonel to The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels: the highest title of honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky to recognize an individual’s noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to community, state, and nation. Dr. Pesto graduated from Spring Hill College with Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Chemistry and played four years of baseball for the Spring Hill College Badgers.

Dr. Pesto enjoys spending his free time with his wife of 30 years, Pamela Pesto, MSSW, ACSW, a graduate of Miami University and the University of Louisville, with professional experience as a social worker (hospital-based inpatient psychiatric care, long-term care, and hospice care) and volunteer service in the Junior League of Savannah (Sustainer Member: Chair of the Strategic Planning and the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center Committees, Endowment Committee Co-Chair, and a Member of the Finance Council) and the Board of Directors of the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center and the Jewish Hospital Four Courts Senior Center with the honors: Community Volunteer of the Year Award for the Junior League of Savannah and the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center; the Key to the City of Louisville, for service as a KY Derby Festival Princess; and, the Jewish Hospital Shelton R. Weber Award of Excellence for exhibiting the highest personal and professional standards in: Decision-Making Ability, Growth/Development, Diplomacy, Leadership, Philanthropy, and Vision. Dr. Pesto and his wife, Pamela, a 2018 Georgia Golden Olympics Silver Medalist, enjoy running and competing in national races, traveling to spend time with family, and are devoted parents to their two adult sons: Al III, a graduate of Duke University, Bachelor of Arts (History: Europe and Russia) and Southeastern University, magna cum laude, Masters of Business Administration (Executive Leadership: Business Strategy and Policy), played college baseball (pitcher), and plays baseball professionally; and, William, a graduate of the University of the South, magna cum laude, Bachelor of Arts (Economics with a double minor in Politics and Business: Finance), played college baseball (pitcher), and works as an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank Of America in New York City.
